2008 - Just got word via email that Pat O'Shea has left us. Looking
back on our old grade school photos, it looks like Pat and I did a lot
of time together in the Bethpage School District. Pat was "hell when
he was well." I recall when I had a chance to visit Bethpage when
I was in the Air Force, Pat put me up at his home rather than in a motel.
He was the best. If there is an afterlife, you can bet Pat and Billy
Nugent are tossing a football to each other and reminiscing over old times.

Billy left us on Good Friday 2007
- He wrote in my BHS yearbook
"Victor - Remember all the years
we've been in school together (2nd grade)
Best of Luck
God bless you
Billy"
Billy, you bet I remember all the
years we were together - we had some good times. I will always remember
you as a real sports enthusiast. God bless you, Billy Nugent

"I remember Billy as both
an athlete and a gentle-man. In high school, I felt that he and Linda
were the best of couples. They were kind, generous, and fun together
- friends in love. I will always think of Billy as having a big heart
and sharing his warmth with all of us around him."
My thanks,

Dear Classmates,
I'm sending
this note along to ya'll in praise of our recently departed classmate Bill
Nugent. Bill and I first met at age 6 in 1951. He had first
moved to Bethpage from the Bronx, as I had done with my family a year before.
He wanted to play "Cowboys and Indians" and I said this is a Baseball town;
go get a mitt and a bat. The beginning of a lifelong friendship.
Throughout
the years, we were the best of buddies. Who slept over whose house
and playing sports together. Bill was a great athlete and went on
to Springfield College on a Football Scholarship. I remember taking
the Geometry Regents together in the 10th grade. I copied the entire
test off Bill and I passed and he failed. Go figure!
Before
I forget, Happy Birthday today to Bill's wonderful wife Linda Dimmling
Nugent. She is 7-19, Bill is 8-20, and I am 9-21; what a succession
of birthdays!! So Bill went off to college and I went into the Marine
Corps for four years. We kept in touch and I was Godfather to his
first daughter Kim and he was Best Man at my wedding to Jeanette in 1970.
Although
Bill passed away on April 6th, I already miss him terribly. We had
some real quality visits together the past couple of years. He had
cancer of the pancreas and I of the lungs. We kept each other company
through chemo and radiation. Bill was in a lot of pain when he passed,
but his wonderful family kept him up and he loved his family very much.
I miss holding hands with him and kissing him good- bye after our visits.
He came to visit me many times in the hospital too.
Yeah
Classmates, we lost a wonderful brother in Bill Nugent. Let us each remember
each other with letters and phone calls. Life is too short.
Tell someone that you love them. Don't be bashful! Time to
sign off my friends! I hope to see everyone at our 50th Reunion.
Love,
Patrick O'Shea
P.S. I'm certain Bill is up in
Heaven putting in a good word for all of us. God Bless and Be Well.

My father, Alfred Soehl graduated from Bethpage
High School in 1963. Upon graduating from high school he settled in Seaford,
NY. The close proximity between Seaford and Bethpage lead my father to
take an occassional drive down memory lane to visit the town in which he
grew up. He wasn't the high school quarterback, nor was he the valedictorian.
He often considered himself more of an outcast which made me wonder why
he loved to reminisce about his high school days. He had both passion and
pride when he discussed "his" Bethpage Golden Eagles. I took a great liking
to listening to his high school tales. For his 50th birthday I went to
the Bethpage School Store on Stewart Ave. and purchased a high school jacket
with his name and graduation year embroidered on it. On Sept 3, 2007
when he passed away, I had him laid to rest in his high school jacket.
My father had a mixture of fond and not so fond high school memories. They
were his memories that helped shape him and make Thank you,
Meredith Soehl

"She put up a valiant fight against that dreaded
disease but could not continue any further, but we all can be consoled
by the fact that she has gone home to eternal peace and joy with our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed, none more so than
me as her soul mate, but I know in my heart and soul that we will be together
again someday when the Lord decides to take me. Anybody that had the privilege
of becoming friends with Beth immediately realized that to know her was
to love her which made her a very special person indeed."

Sad to report, yet another classmate is gone.
Beth and I, as many of our classmates, went thru grade school together.
In high school we used to pal around. Beth was always full of life
and her laugh was infectious. Is she was laughing, you were laughing.
Her mom and sisters were always kind to me. I think we as a society
should spend more on fighting these terrible diseases that claim our loved
ones rather than spend billions fighting wars. Sorry to say that,
but it ALWAYS comes to my mind when someone I knew, a family member and
etc., succumbs to something science could cure if it had the funds.
Hat's off to Robert for taking care of Beth
and doing everything he could to fight for her.
