Brief History - So What Have I Been Doing for the Last
38 Years! |
After a close call and finally graduating, attended Farmingdale, and
tried to avoid the army. That didn’t work, so joined and served 4 years
finishing up as a Captain in the Corp of Engineers. Spent almost three
years stationed, with my wife, in Germany, working for a NATO team, and
had our first Daughter there (she has dual citizenship). Then of
course paid my dues and had to go to Viet Nam, luckily working in intelligence
and returning in one piece. After a while settled down, back in Bethpage,
and went to Nassau, then New York Institute Of Technology, cursory of the
GI Bill getting degrees in civil & industrial engineering. Worked as
a manufacturing engineer around Long Island until I got into the buying
field. Now the Purchasing Manager of my company and active in the local
chapter of NAPM. Putting the kids through school and then getting most
of them out of the house. |
| Hobbys |
As any homeowner, working around the house became a hobby of choice,
although I really did enjoy it. I now spend my time enjoying the fruit
of those hard worked hours of the past, watching my flowers grow and feeding
my Koi and turtles in my back yard pond. A few years ago I took up golf,
and still have not broken 100, but I keep trying. I haven’t convinced my
wife to let me take my clubs on vacation with us yet, but I keep on trying.
Thanks to the Army, we got a taste of travel, and enjoy spending as much
time away from home and work as we can get away with. I think after Sept
11 we may spend more time within the USA. There is still a lot we haven’t
seen here yet. |
| Did I Leave Something Out? |
I’m sure a lot. As I look around the town I have lived in since 1955
I see may changes, as well as many things unchanged. May of the things
I see remind me how nice it is to call Bethpage home and to be a Bethpage
Alumni. |
